Can you change an image’s aspect ratio without cropping?

Not without changing something. When the new ratio has a different shape, the image must be cropped, extended with a border, or stretched. Stretching distorts the artwork, so it is not a good option. For printable wall art, the practical choices are to fill the new ratio by cropping the edges, or fit the artwork inside it by adding a border. Cropping fills the frame but removes part of the image; fitting keeps the whole image but changes its look with a border.
